What is a University Sponsored Registered Student Organization (USRSO)?
A USRSO is an engineering student organization that is registered as an RSO with the UC Davis Center for Student Involvement (CSI) and meets the requirements for sponsorship by the College of Engineering (COE). Any engineering student club engaged in potentially hazardous activities may be eligible for sponsorship and registration with the college as a USRSO.
What are examples of activities that are considered potentially hazardous?

- Work with vehicles, drones, moving equipment, pressurized systems or lasers
- Fieldwork and other activities that include significant hazards, such as the risk of falling from a large height
What are the requirements for registration with COE as a USRSO?
- Current registration of the student club as an RSO with CSI
- A majority of the club's officers on record with CSI must be active UC Davis engineering majors
- The club must have an advisor who is a faculty or staff employee in COE with expertise in the club's areas of interest and activity
- Club members must receive training and demonstrate proficiency as needed to ensure safety
What are the benefits of registering your organization with the College of Engineering to become a USRSO?
- Dedicated workspace in the Engineering Student Design Center (ESDC), subject to availability
- Approval to use the university name in club advertising, subject to campus approval
- Assistance with acquiring training necessary to ensure safety
- Assistance with club fundraising and marketing
